From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back for Term 3! I hope you all had a wonderful break with family and friends during the Winter School Holidays.
In Semester Two we are looking forward to so many wonderful learning opportunities and whole school events for our students and families. To start the term I would like to focus on attendance and the importance of consistent, regular attendance at school. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. The primary rationale for high-quality attendance data is the relationship between student attendance and student achievement. Teacher effectiveness is the strongest school-related determinant of student success however chronic student absence reduces even the best teacher's ability to provide learning opportunities. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school journey however has a cumulative effect on students’ academic, social and emotional learning. We need parent support to have our students attending regularly in Semester Two to build great minds of the future.
If you have any concerns around your child’s attendance please communicate with your child’s classroom teacher, our deputy principals or myself.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing many of our parents and carers this term.
Ms Kerryn Woodhouse
Principal
