Changes to Landsdale PS BYOD Program 2024
After careful consideration and consultation with the Ashdale cluster ICT support staff Landsdale Primary School will begin transitioning our current BYOD program to a BYOD iPad program in 2024.
This year we have seen a decrease in the number of students purchasing their own devices, unfortunately this has meant that new students were not provided with a device for a period of time as all of our school devices had been allocated to other students.
We are very mindful of the current cost of living situation and do not want to put added pressure on our families or see students not be able to participate in our BYOD program. For this reason, we are encouraging all students entering into year 4 in 2024 and future years to bring an approved iPad (with cover and keyboard) as their device for our 1-1 program. We are hoping that this will ease the pressure on families and ensure that every student in years 4-6 in future years can be a part of our highly regarded 1-1 program, preparing our students for the digital world.
Why iPads
iPads have become an increasingly more powerful and versatile tool in the education setting. They are a much more affordable option than a Macbook but still have the capability to run all of the programs and applications that we currently use to increase learning opportunities, support individual needs and communicate in innovative, creative and collaborative ways.
Please be aware that if you have already purchased a MacBook for your child entering into year 4 or you intend on them using an existing device, they will still be able to use this. Students that don’t have their own device will have access to an iPad at school but will not be able to take this device home.
More information regarding our 1-1 BYOD iPad program will follow later in the term along with parent information session dates. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding our BYOD program please feel free to contact Kristin Bunn.
Working as a Volunteer at LPS
We thank all our parents who generously volunteer their time and energy to support our school community. There are some changes to the Working with Children Check policy, to ensure the safety of children when we have volunteers in the school.
If you would like to volunteer at our school, you will need to sign a ‘Parent and child volunteer declaration form’, available from the office. You cannot volunteer if you have a current Working with Children Negative Notice or Interim Negative Notice.
These changes affect parents who are engaged in volunteer work. For example, you are considered a volunteer when you assist with activities such as reading sessions, day excursions, canteen duties, helping at a sports carnival or carrying out P&C duties.
You are not a volunteer when:
- picking up and dropping off your child
- observing events like school assemblies
- attending parent and teacher interviews
- visiting the uniform shop.
If your circumstances change, and you are issued with a Negative Notice or Interim Negative Notice after completing the ‘Parent and child volunteer declaration form’, you must advise the principal.
A current Working with Children Check is required by all other family members and friends over 18 years of age who want to volunteer.
It is a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of our children. We appreciate your ongoing support and dedication to our school community.
Kindest regards,
Ms Kerryn Woodhouse
Principal

Father’s Day Stall 2023
The 2023 Father’s Day Stall will be held on Friday the 1st of September (and Tuesday the 29th of August for Kindy A rotation).
We are now accepting pre-payments on Qkr until Thursday 24th August. Please note, pre-payments are limited to 1 gift and 1 card per student. Additional gift purchases will need to be paid for in cash on the day and are subject to stock levels.
We are very excited about the stall gifts this year, and we know how much the kids love coming to do their ‘shopping’! So make sure to prepay your child’s $6 shopping token before the due date, or students can bring in $6 on the day to buy their Dad, Caregiver or special guy in their life a cool gift for Father’s Day. Cards are also able to be prepaid at $1 or cash on the day, until sold out.
If you are interested in helping out on the day, please contact Nerissa on 0432 326 584.
